TV and Heroes

I attended the taping of the O’Reilly Factor at Fox Studios last week with a friend, Peter Gold, CEO of Vegas Insider.com, who was invited by the show’s producer.  In addition to being impressed by the technology and professionalism of the production team that contributes to the outstanding final product, I came away with newfound appreciation for on air television personalities seeing Bill O’Reilly at work.  I must confess that for as long as I can remember I have held tv news pundits in fairly low regard believing their success was related highly to luck, connections or both.  As I watched Mr. O’Reilly tape his segments and efficiently move through the various interviews he needed to fit into his 30-minute show I was struck by his intelligence, real-world understanding and ability to instantly gain the respect of the diverse personalities he conversed with ranging from U.S. senators to the grieving father whose son, an Iraq war veteran, was recently murdered on U.S. soil by a Muslim extremist.  After the taping, I gained even more appreciation for Mr. O’Reilly’s talents as Bill’s producer explained to us how Bill spends each day leading up to the 5pm taping writing the show himself.

There are still true American heroes on the air – keep up the good work Bill!
